Are you looking for ideas to have a more healthy and successful lifestyle? Well, these New Year’s Resolutions should be just the solution.

BE SPECIFIC.
Specific behavior-change plans are easier to stick to than more general resolutions. For example, “I will lose ten pounds” is very vague. If, you only have imprecise resolutions, it will help to add a specific plan of action that will lead you toward your goal. Rather than telling yourself, “I will exercise more,” a better way to stick to this goal would be to say, “ I will go to the afternoon aerobics class on Tuesday and Thursday, and lift weights on Monday and Friday.”

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.
When you try to change a behavior, first, you much have a change of heart. Try reinforcing your self-esteem, by finding realistic role models. People that are similar to you and are doing what you want to do. If they can do it, so can you.

BE REALISTIC.
Be sure you New Year’s resolution is realistic to your lifestyle. Make changes easy and convenient for yourself.

HAVE FUN, WHILE GETTING INVOLVED.
It’s a lot easier to stick to your goals when you feel good. Replace the reward of your old patterns with something else. Trying to eat less fat? Be sure the food is still delicious and you enjoy meals. Make your life as pleasant as possible during this period of changes. Get involved in activities that help you feel happy and fulfilled.

BUILD A SUPPORT SYSTEM.
Get the support of family, friends, and coworkers. If you are trying to get over a serious addiction like smoking, drinking, or compulsive eating, get professional help and join a support group.
